What do you need to be offered a position in EKT? - About East Khanid Trading

Recruitment - What do you need to be offered a position in EKT? 2007-01-01 12:54:44
Rye
East Khanid Trading is a corp for players at all levels in the game. Due to our unique Disciplines system, players can pursue almost any personal goals they have and receive a lot of help from EKT along the way, regardless of what their current skills are like at the time of joining. Basically, the main things you need to bring to the table is reasonable activeness in the game, a willingness to take part in corp activities (fun stuff as well as fund raising ops), a desire to succeed for both yourself and the corp, and willingness to help work towards our corporate vision! A friendly attitude and a willingness to help your fellow corp mates is also a must!

East Khanid Trading is strongly aligned to the Khanid Kingdom faction, and to the factions that the Khanid Kingdom likes. We're working towards several important goals which are essentially aimed at providing extra benefits for our members, and having good faction standings are very important for this. Essentially, when signing up with EKT, you need to be willing to abandon any ties you may have had with other opposing factions, and be prepared to concentrate on raising your standings with the Khanid Kingdom, as well as the Amarr Empire and Caldari State. If you're not prepared to watch your Gallente and Minmatar standings drop as these faction standings increase, then EKT is unlikely to be a good home for you.

By raising your standings with the factions we're aligned to, you will be helping EKT, and EKT will in turn help you! This is the model for most of our activities in which you participate for the benefit of the corp. Essentially, when the corp does well because of your actions, then the corp rewards well in return. These rewards are generally tied up in our Disciplines and Ranking systems, but additional bonuses for specific achievements will often be made too.

Another aspect of EKT you should agree with and be willing to work according to is our strong internal economy. If you decide to apply to join EKT, you will begin your life in the corp at the lowest Rank, and at the lowest Discipline levels, and will be accepted into the corp on a one month probation period. During your first month with us, you will need to read our Employees Handbook, get familiar with how things work, understand the management structure, and basically figure out for yourself where in the corp you'd like to "fit in". We will not dictate this to you - it will be your choice to decide what aspects of EKT interest you the most, and what areas you want to make a contribution in (and gain the rewards for). During your probation period, you can decide to leave EKT with no hard feelings, and we reserve the right to eject those players we feel are not committed to participating in EKT, or who are making life difficult for our existing members. At the end of the day, we are looking for people who want to have fun, get involved, and make friends - not leeches and trouble-causers!

Our internal economy is well thought-out and has a number of rules and guidelines to follow. Basically, these rules and guidelines are not overly restrictive, but are in place to ensure that everyone who participates in an activity will get a cut of the profits, and the corp benefits a little along the way too (so we can afford to buy all the cool stuff we hand out for promotion rewards!). There is ample opportunity for people to make very good ISK working in EKT. Miners are assured decent prices for minerals and ore, and prompt payment for them. Producers are assured of being able to get the minerals they need at fairly stable prices, making it easier to determine their production costs and selling prices. Traders are assured of getting good discounts on produced goods, and even on loot gathered by mission runners. Mission runners will have a system in place where they can sell unwanted loot to the corp at fair prices for redistribution. Haulers get paid for dragging stuff around space at good rates. Basically, whatever you do for a living, there is support for you to train up on it, and there is a system in place for you to make money at it too!

Getting to know how the internal economy works, and finding out how your activities fit in, is something you will need to do during your first month's probation. If at the end of that first month you are happy with how we do things in EKT, then staying a member would be great! If you're not happy, or are unwilling to follow the procedures laid out even though they're quite simple and reasonable, then EKT might not be the ideal corp for you. But we suggest that in your first month you give our system a proper try to get a feel for how it all fits together, and see how you benefit from it - if you're still not convinced at the end of the month, then you're free to go find satisfactioin elsewhere with no hard feelings from us Smile

Teamwork is a very important aspect of life in EKT. We encourage team activities, even when not official corp ops. For example, our mission runners often give eachother a hand, or organise for a salvaging team to follow them and clean up all the wrecks. Our miners often gang together to get the gang bonuses to pull in greater amounts of ore, or split the hauling and mining between them. Essentially, any activity that can be done by groups of members is encouraged - it's more fun playing with someone else than just playing alone all the time! Typical arrangements for these group activities is splitting the loot / ore / mins / ISK equally between all the members, although the exact arrangement is up to the players involved to work out! Most often the ore / mins / loot / salvage is sold to the corp and the ISK is split, or the corp prices for these goods are used to calculate the total, and the players "buy" the items from the other participants if they want to keep something specific.

You should also be motivated to succeed! Whatever your goals or ambitions, you won't get there without being motivated. Tell us what your goals and ambitions are, and we will do what we can to help you achieve them as quickly as possible within EKT. You should also be keen and motivated in help East Khanid Trading achieve our corporate goals. In most cases, you'll probably find that your own ambitions, and the ambitions of EKT are complimentary, or even have the same aim - we're keen to succeed as a corp, and we're keen to see our members succeed too and will do what we can to assure that both you and the corp do well!

In summary...

1) EKT is a corporation aimed at keeping players of all experience levels motivated and interested, and supports and rewards our members in exchange for their support and loyalty. If this sounds good, then EKT is definitely worth trying out!

2) We're aligned to the Khanid Kingdom faction, as well as the Amarr Empire and Caldari State factions, so you must be willing to align yourself to them too. This faction alignment will open many doors for you and East Khanid Trading that would otherwise be closed, and so this is a very important aspect of our corp, and an important factor in your decision to sign up, and our decision to keep you on as a long-term employee.

3) East Khanid Trading has a strong internal economy where every member stands to earn good money, get great benefits, and contribute to the corp's success. By working together for the corp or for eachother you will be making yourself and your fellow corp mates more successful, and help bring us all closer to our goals. If you're more of a "solo" player who only looks after himself, is a bit of a miser, and are not willing to be a part of a community that helps its fellow members, then you should look elsewhere.

4) EKT has a unique system of Disciplines used for monitoring and rewarding the progress of our members. These Disciplines relate to sets of skills and activities related to those skills, and the rewards for promotion in Disciplines are related to the skills obtained at each level of promotion (we provide the skill books you need when you need them, and hand out nice ships and equipment when you are able to start using them!). If you like the sound of being supported in your skill training by your corp, then EKT has a lot to offer.

5) Being an experienced player with a lot of high-level Disciplines does not force you into becoming part of the management of EKT. We have a separate system of Ranks which is related to your willingness to be a part of the management of the corp. You are not obliged to move up the ranks if you don't want to, but there are responsibilities you take on with each promotion. You can stop your progression whenever you feel like it, and even ask to be demoted if you are finding the task, team or department management you have taken on is proving a bit much for your current personal circumstances. If you're keen to help run the corp, you'll be encouraged to help out and get rewarded for it. If you're not keen to run things, but are still keen to participate in the life of the corp and in corp ops, then you'll be encouraged and rewarded for that too. And if you're not keen for either of these, then don't bother applying to join!! Smile

6) Teamwork is an important part of life in EKT. If you don't like working as a part of a team, then you might just find life in EKT is not for you. But if you do like working in a team and having fun doing stuff with friend and colleagues in a corporation, then EKT might just be perfect for you.

7) Motivation. Motivation for yourself to succeed, and motivation for helping the corp and fellow members succeed. Have some goals in mind, and during your probation, get to know some of the goals and aspirations of other members in the corp, as well as of the corp itself. Working together with someone, a group of people, or the corp in general will get you there a lot quicker than doing it alone. EKT is a corp that believes our success is tied to the success of our members, and so we will support you as and when we can (as long as your goals are not in opposition to the corp goals of course). If this sounds like the kind of environment you're looking for, then East Khanid Trading is probably what you've been looking for in a corp all along!

If you are still reading this, and are interested enough to think about signing up, then head over to the recruitment forums and ask any other questions you might have, or, better yet, come and join us in-game in the EKTPUB channel and chat to us a bit and introduce yourself! We'd love to hear from you, and would be happy to sign you up on the one month's probation so you can take life in EKT for a test-drive!

Fly safe!
