Writing a news article is pretty straight-forward. Firstly, you should write the article in such a way that it is broken into two parts:
Part I - Introductory Paragraph(s)
Keep this short and sweet - it should be enough to grab the reader's attention and make them want to click on the "Read more..." link to read the rest of the article. It is VERY important to keep this short as the introductory paragraph(s) are displayed on the home page, so having long introductions will make the home page look crap! Keep it short and simple please!
Part II - The Body
The rest of the article will be in the body section, which is only displayed when the reader clicks on the "Read More..." link. This can be as long as you want. You don't have to have a body tag if the news item is basically just a headline, or contains only one or two short paragraphs.
To tell our portal where the introductory paragraph(s) end and the body of the article starts, just add a line between them with this tag in it: [--BODY--]
Here's an example:
| Quote: | This is an introductory paragraph. This article is just an example!
[--BODY--]
This is the rest of the article which will get displayed when you click the "Read More..." link. You don't have to have a body if the news item is just a headline and no details are necessary. If the body is omitted, then the "Read More..." link won't be displayed. |
Please make sure you spell-check your articles, and if necessary ask someone else to proof-read them.
Before your article is made "live", one of our news moderators will proof-read and (if necessary) make any corrections, comment on them, etc. Once they're "finalised", they'll be moved to the appropriate news category, and at that stage they will be "live articles" on the website!
Note that any responses to the submitted article will be deleted when it is moved, so feel free to respond to submitted articles, make suggestions, ask for comments, etc. in replies to the article post before they become live.
General rules for news articles:
1. No swearing, foul language, racism, undue criticism, etc. - keep it clean and friendly!
2. Don't give out any sensitive information about the corp.
3. No smacktalk / griefer type stuff!
4. Have fun with it! _________________
